Owen MacKenzie

PhD Student in Biomedical Engineering

I’m a team player who brings creative energy and determination to my diverse interests in engineering, running, and music. I’m passionate about researching ways to improve artificial intelligence through inspiration from the brain, as well as better understanding the organ that controls all our thoughts, emotions, and perception of the world. I graduated from Duke University with a double major in electrical computer engineering and computer science and a concentration in machine learning. I am pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan because I want to bring my strong experience in machine learning to biological and medical applications. Outside of the lab, I enjoy running as part of the University of Michigan Cross Country and Track Team, and playing guitar, singing, and releasing music on Spotify. I am excited to tackle complex neural networks as part of the LIBI lab!
