Biography

Ulrich Scheven is an experimentalist and associate research scientist, with a physics Ph.D. from Princeton University on quantum effects in low dimensional electron systems. Over a research career in the oil-industry and in academia he developed and used quantitative NMR/MRI techniques to investigate open questions in oil field exploration and formation evaluation, in fundamental dispersion physics arising in flow through porous media, fundamental MR diffusion physics, in strain imaging in ligaments, and in pre-clinical imaging. Other work involved the development and characterization of complex fluids with light tunable rheology. Currently he is active as an MR-physicist within the groups of Professors Ellen Aruda (Mechanical Engineering) and Zhongming Liu (Biomedical Engineering) at the University of Michigan.
